Janelle Wall

Janelle Wall, Co-founder and former Co-President for Heritage Figure Skating Club

I grew up in New Ulm, MN with my parents and four older siblings.  I started skating at the age of 8. I tested and competed in both the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) and U.S. Figure Skating competitions locally and nationally. I was fortunate enough to be trained by an Olympic coach in Fraser, MI when I was in high school.

I started teaching for New Ulm Figure Skating Club when I was in High School and have been teaching now for a total of 30 years. I taught in New Ulm, St. Peter and Mankato before moving to Burnsville and have taught for Eagan, ISD 196, Lakeville, Northfield and Owatonna.

I am currently the Program Director for the Farmington Learn to Skate Programs as well as the Head Coach at Heritage FSC. I have helped produce countless Ice shows, chaired many non-qualifying U.S. Figure Skating competitions, organized many skating camps as well as coached both on and off ice training classes. I have made many friends and contacts over the years which has become very useful in my pursuit to become the best coach I can be.

I regularly attend clinics and seminars, shadow some of the best coaches in the country and use several online training tools and subscriptions to keep my teaching knowledge as up-to-date as possible. I teach all levels of Free Skate and Moves in the Field. I have successfully coached skaters to the senior level in the few short years since returning to full-time coaching.

I want my students to enjoy skating as much as I do. Building confidence in my students is one of my main focuses along with setting long and short-term, attainable goals. Teaching skaters that they can accomplish something they thought they could not is always my goal. I feel very blessed to be a founder of Heritage Figure Skating Club and look forward to helping build a club and team of coaches that can meet the needs of our skaters and community.

I am married to Brian and we have three children, Ashlyn (25), Dylan (21), and Kaitlyn (17). We have lived in Farmington for the past 19 years. I graduated from Northwestern College with a degree in Psychology but was home with my children and taught skating part-time until 2011 when I started coaching/directing full-time. My faith and values are very important to me and enjoy spending time with my family, camping, boating, biking, reading, and hanging out with friends. I try my best to soak up all this life has to offer!
