Kate Johnson

I fell in love with the sport when I took my first skate class at five years old. I started testing and competing at the age of seven and the rest is history.

At my home club, I co-founded the Older Girls Committee (OGC) which empowered members of the club from grades 6 to 12, to take on leadership roles. This committee assisted with bridging the gap between the older skaters and the younger skaters, and ultimately established a big/little sister program. I am passionate about the older girls of a club being positive role-models for the young ones coming up.

I attend the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities majoring in Construction Management with a minor in Italian and Interior Environments.

I am currently a Junior lady in freestyle and have earned a Gold Medal in Moves in the Field. I am pursuing my Senior Solo Free Dance to become a Double Gold Medalist. I have also tested through my Pre-Silver Pattern Dances.

I started coaching Learn to Skate five years ago, along with choreographing basic skills, beginner, and intermediate programs. I enjoy coaching all levels, with my primary focus on MIF, Choreography, and Spins. My passion is helping skaters achieve their goals and to be proud in what they have accomplished.
